Te Rangihīroa College is the University of Otago’s first new purpose-built residential college in more than 50 years. The impressive building consists of four wings each made up of seven floors including a ground level, five accommodation levels and a plant room. It provides accommodation for 450 students.
Te Rangihīroa is a five Green Star building. The design, construction and operation of the building all contribute to the Green Star process.
Jasmax, known for innovative and sustainable designs, envisioned the Te Rangihīroa Student Accommodation with a focus on modern aesthetics and functional spaces. Dunedin Roofing Systems, the chosen installer for the project, played a crucial role in implementing the roofing solutions with precision and quality craftsmanship.
The roof assembly comprises Ultratherm MSR, complemented by an acoustic board and Topdeck T. This combination not only ensures structural integrity but also contributes to acoustic performance, meeting the specific needs of a student accommodation facility. The gutter system incorporates Ultratherm Extreme with Derbigum membrane, providing robust weatherproofing and durability. This selection aligns with the high standards set for Te Rangihīroa in terms of long-term performance and resilience.
