Te Aratai College is a secondary school for Year 7 to Year 15 students located in Christchurch. It underwent a comprehensive reconstruction as part of the Christchurch Schools Rebuild program, with construction being finalized in May 2022.
The reconstruction effort entailed the complete demolition of all pre-existing structures on the premises, followed by the construction of several new facilities, including a Creativity & Innovation Building, Learning Hub Building, Gymnasium and Multipurpose Hall.
Starting from its inviting entrance and extending to its well-designed outdoor spaces, which are bordered by sheltered overhangs reminiscent of Oxbridge quadrangle architecture, this school actively connects with its local community.
Formerly known as Linwood College, the school received a new name gifted by Ngāi Tūāhuriri Rūnanga. The name, Te Aratai College, signifies the pathway to the sea.
Te Aratai has a RoofLogic Warm Roof, namely the Ultratherm MSR system with PIR board.
